Creating a Hands-On, Multi-Sensory Curriculum
Mrs. Boutin & Mrs. Mead - Special Education

Mrs. Boutin has begun developing hands-on learning games to benefit the special education students she educates. She has found that these “activities allow our special education students access to the curriculum and they become more academically engaged. In addition, they are excited to learn and become confident in themselves.” Until this time, teachers have been absorbing the costs associated with the materials used to create the learning games as well as the time needed to assemble the activities. WEST has agreed to fund the materials that will enable Mrs. Boutin to create more learning games to enhance the special education curriculum. This will allow students the opportunity to successfully learn concepts and reinforce academic learning while having fun utilizing the created games. This grant will impact students in all grade levels at the elementary school.
