Mrs. McNeal & Mrs. Albetini - Grade 1

First Grade teachers will participate in a grade-wide, year-long project enabling students to write and produce their own professionally bound, published books. Students will examine the entire process of publishing, starting with brainstorming and the creation of drafts, to editing and illustrating the final product. It is Mrs. McNeal’s hopes that this grant will enable all students to “see themselves as writers” and “become motivated to continue writing”. All students will “know the thrill of being the author of a professionally bound published book”. Students will receive a copy of their final product and classrooms will retain some copies of books to inspire and demonstrate to future first grade students what is accomplishable during their first grade year.
